It is good to give the Lord a grateful praise
From the setting of the sun into the day
I’m reminded of your faithfulness
I’m encouraged by your gentleness
It is right to sing a song of grateful praise

When I think about the truth you always speak
When I’m doubting in a land of disbelief
When I’m foolish and I can’t see straight
You correct me with your strong embrace
When I think about the truth you always speak

How great are your works - oh - Lord
How true is your word - my - Lord
When I thought I'd waste away, I heard you call
You hid me in the shelter of your walls
How steadfast your love, oh Lord

And a simple song of praise is all I have
Even in the darkest times
Your promises will shed their light

Rooted in the house of the Lord
In old age, we’ll give praise

V1:
Father I am, laid bare before you
Everything I have is yours
Though sorrow runs deep, and suffering remains
You are still with me when everything fades
V2:
Father in you, I have all I need
For you heard my cry, For you came to me
Though I cannot move, I struggle in pain
Yet my broken body still sings Your refrain
Chorus:
Let this thorn in my flesh lead me to the cross
Let your love sink down deep that I might taste the cost
For your Son took my sin in his death and loss
So, let this thorn in my flesh lead me to the cross
V3:
For naked I came and naked I leave
Though my life, a moment, your love covers me
For when I am weak, your power remains
Your grace is sufficient, your glory unchanged

Who has kept your law?
Kept is perfectly
Holy God, there is none like you
Who obeys your word?

We fall down at your feet
You have everything we need,
You have everything we need

blameless without stain?
Holy God, there is none like you
Who here’s deeds are known?
Selfless without shame?

Chorus:
You are Holy, you are King
We fall down at your feet
You have everything we need,

Come be made whole, in the cross set free

Verse 1:
Be gracious to me God, I am worn down by fear
Be gracious to me God, and hold me near
Show mercy to me Lord, and bring down my foes
Show mercy to me Lord, help me overthrow
My past that separates me from you
Chorus 1:
When I’m afraid
I trust in You
When I have doubt
I trust in You
Give refuge to my soul, in the midst of my pain
Give refuge to my soul, even when I walk again
I exalt your holy name, above all names
I exalt your holy name, and all my worldly gains
Are lost and I am found in you
Chorus 2:
When I’m afraid
I trust in You
Covered in grace
I trust in You
Bridge:
For you, O God delivered me from death
To life so that I might live in you
And find righteousness through you
Alt Choruses:
When I’m afraid
I trust in you
No more shame
I trust in you
When I’m afraid
I trust in you
Wrapped in grace
I trust in you
No more shame
I trust in you
Throw the chains away
I trust in you
Free from the pain
I trust in you

A song of praise to my Lord

Though I long to do your will, and your law is written on my heart
My iniquity is laid bare, I can’t find my way through the dark
V3:
You have multiplied oh Lord. All the good you do for us
Your wondrous deeds and your gracious love
10,000 songs are not enough

V1:
The Son of God, the Son of Man
Enthroned before the world began
Every knee will bow, every tongue will shout
The name above every other name
Chorus:
Christ the Lord, Christ the King, Mighty God, Prince of Peace
Word of Life, Spotless Lamb, Cornerstone, the Great I AM
At Your voice, the darkness shakes, You have freed us from our chains
Jesus Christ, the name above all names
V2:
Sons of wrath, sons of flesh
When all we knew was sin and death
By grace through faith, the old forever fades
Jesus, the one who took our place
Bridge:
No other name can call us from the grave
No other king would suffer in our place
In all the earth and heaven there remains
No other name by which we can be saved

Our only hope in life, in death
Is Christ, our Lord, our King
We once were slaves, condemned, ashamed
Your blood has set us free
Your blood has ransomed me

If we live, if we die, We are the Lord’s
For we were bought with a price, We are the Lord’s
The life we live, a sacrifice, We are the Lord’s
Wholly free and Wholly Yours, We are the Lord’s
V2:
May we fully trust your living Word
To nourish, to guide, to see
How we might live and glorify
Your name in every deed

V1:
Patiently I waited on the Lord
He inclined and heard my cry
And He drew me from the miry bog

A song of praise to God
May all who see and fear the Lord
know his saving love
V2:
Blessed is the man who makes the Lord,
his trust, his life, his home
Who does not give himself to pride
where lies are free to roam
You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
Your wondrous deeds towards us
We will proclaim all you’ve done,
But it still is not enough
V3:
When evil has encompassed me,
In darkness and in shame
Your steadfast love and faithfulness
You will not restrain
For I know my God delivers those
Who call upon his name
For great is the Lord above
And greatly to be praised

My help, my deliver
My help, my deliver
My help, my deliver
My help, my deliver

May all who seek your Holy name
rejoice and sing your praise
May the hope of our salvation
Be our hearts refrain

In the spring of 2021 a group of musicians from Fellowship Denver Church started writing a record around the themes found in the New City Catechism. (New City Catechism is a year long liturgical Q&A study guide to help root Christians in the core principals of our faith) What came out of this season were songs that met us in the midst of processing the effects of the pandemic and the toll it has taken on our church. Two distinct themes started to emerge - Longing and Hope. We long for a world where all things are made new and where our bodies aren't experiencing the weight of the fall. Where God's goodness is fully realized and all people will worship Him in glory. Where sin and death are no more. We also recognize that while we long for this new kingdom to come we have to look forward with Hope. Our hope in the gospel sustains us today. We can rest in this hope knowing that we are forgiven, loved, and cared for as children of the almighty Father. It gives us life and energy to run well this race. To love others in our midst and to point people towards the renewing truth of the Gospel. These songs are filled with longing and hope. It's our prayer that these songs continue to meet people in hard and joyous places. That God would bind up our wounds in song and truth and that we as a people can see the Gospel in a deeper richer way through this work.
